Happy International Women’s Day 2023!

But, why should we celebrate it?
International Women’s Day is important because it is a day to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women around the world, while also raising awareness about the ongoing fight for gender equality.
Despite the progress that has been made, women still face many challenges, including discrimination, harassment, and unequal pay.
International Women’s Day serves as a reminder that these issues still exist and that we must continue to work towards a world where women are treated equally and have the same opportunities as men.
It is also a day to celebrate the strength, resilience, and diversity of women and to recognize the important role that they play in society. By celebrating International Women’s Day, we can inspire change and work towards a better future for all women.
At our company, we’re proud to have a small but mighty team which includes two amazing women – Lydia (left image below) + Noor (right image below).

They bring a wealth of experience, talent, and passion to everything they do. We’re grateful for their hard work and dedication, and we’re honoured to work alongside them every day.

As you already know, we are a video production company and based on this, here are some awesome women in film that we absolutely admire:

Although she did not pick up a camera until she was thirty-two, Ava DuVernay has made history as a writer, director, and producer. This inspirational woman has directed and produced big films such as:

• Selma

• 13th

• When They See Us

• A Wrinkle in Time

• Middle of Nowhere

• Queen Sugar

• The White Tiger

Her work continues to support and uplift black voices through film and cinema and we think she is AMAZING.

Chloé Zhao

Chinese-born filmmaker Chloé Zhao is another amazing female filmmaker in our eyes. Zhao is most well-known for her 2021 win at the Academy Awards for her film Nomadland.

Zhao developed a fascination for people after relocating to the UK and then the US to pursue her education. She subsequently enrolled in film school and had the opportunity to study under renowned filmmaker Spike Lee. Her approach to storytelling involves blending authentic research with scripted narratives, resulting in emotionally impactful and powerful stories. Although Zhao’s expertise is in documentary-style storytelling, she has also ventured into other genres, as demonstrated by her recent directorial role in Marvel’s Eternals (2021).

Domee Shi

Domee Shi, a Chinese-Canadian animator, has made significant contributions to several Pixar films, such as Inside Out (2015), Incredibles 2 (2018), and Toy Story 4 (2019). However, her breakthrough came when she became the first female director of a Pixar short, Bao (2018).

In 2022, she directed a fantastical comedy about a thirteen-year-old named Meilin Lee. The film depicts her horrifying discovery that any negative emotions turn her into a red panda.

With the industry in flux, an increasing number of women are sharing their distinctive stories and challenging the preconceived notions of the stories that the female perspective can provide.

If you feel motivated to pick up a pen or a camera and share your own tale, DO IT!

Let’s continue to support and uplift the women in our lives, both today and every day.
